The tours listed below are samples of my tour offer. They can be extended, broken down into smaller modules or combined in different ways. Culinary elements can be added to a tour or left out – it all depends on the guests’ requirements. Customization is at the core of my work.

The Highlights of Downtown Vienna

This tour involves a stroll through the historic city center from the Hofburg Palace, the Habsburgs’ winter residence for centuries, along famous avenues to St. Stephen’s Cathedral (outside visit) located at the very heart of the city. Enjoy the awe-inspiring splendor of Vienna’s key sites, evoking the legacy of the once powerful Habsburg Empire.

Downtown Vienna at Second Glance

Join me on a stroll through the narrow, winding lanes of the “Bermuda-Triangle”, the Greek and the Old University Quarters, as well as the idyllic courtyards behind St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Myths and legends shared along the way make this lovely, atmospheric tour very entertaining.

Imperial Apartments

Imperial Vienna

This tour focuses on the Hofburg, the imperial winter residence of the Habsburg Dynasty, who ruled Austria for 640 years. We will walk through the site which comprises 18 buildings built over the centuries around the castle at the center, which dates from the 1200s. Then we will proceed to the Imperial Apartments, the home of Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife, Empress Elisabeth. Here you will experience the home décor tastes of these celebrity figures and learn about their exciting lives.

Vienna Food Safari

This walk through downtown Vienna introduces you to Vienna’s exquisite culinary specialties: charcuterie, local wine, regional cheeses, hearty organic breads, savory saussages, and samples of Vienna’s fabulous, sweet delicacies. Be surprised – and indulge! In between the samples, you will also discover some hidden gems, representing a feast for the eyes.

Music is in the Air

Until the early 20th century, Vienna was the world’s undisputed capital of music, which is why almost every street in downtown Vienna has a reference to one or more musicians. Follow in the footsteps of Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Strauss, and the like, now world-renowned celebrities, who once lived here. Learn about their life stories, as well as their whims and quirks – and listen to their music.

Maria Theresa

Maria Theresa Superstar

Follow in the footsteps of Maria Theresa, one of the Habsburg’s best rulers in their 640-year history in Austria. She was the dynasty’s only female ruler (1740-80) and while she was an extremely busy power politician, she also became a mother of sixteen. During this walk through the Hofburg and neighboring areas, you will gain an understanding of her life, her recipes for success, as well as the lifestyle prevailing in her era. The tour ends at a café where we will enjoy Coffee Maria Theresa, Her Majesty’s nightcap.

Sigmund Freud

Sigmund Freud Superstar

This walk introduces you to the places in Vienna’s 9th district, which shaped the work and life of Sigmund Freud for over 40 years. The tour will bring to life Freud the scientist, who over the course of his eventful career, developed psychoanalysis, as well as being a keen family man. We will also draw a painting of early 20th century Vienna and finish up at one of Freud’s favorite cafés.

Christmas Illumination

Christmas Markets & Tastes in Vienna

Vienna is never more magical than during the Christmas season when the city is festively illuminated and dotted with romantic markets. Delve into the unique atmosphere of several downtown markets and explore the culinary aspects, such as mulled wine, exquisite pastries, Christmas cookies, and other specialties. We will also discuss Advent and Christmas traditions and customs in Vienna and Austria.

Cost Structure:

  • I charge a basic fee of € 180 for a walking tour lasting up to two hours.
  • An extra half hour is € 30; an extra hour costs € 60.
  • The aforementioned prices are applicable per tour. They do not include entrance fees or additional costs for culinary samples.

Cancellation policy:

14–3 days before the date: 50% of the applicable guide fee is payable. 3 days or less before the date: 100% of the applicable guide fee.
